Look back at USA Denmark
If the friendly on Wednesday between the USA and Denmark tells us anything its that Bob Bradley has a very shallow player pool. The team which took the field could hardly be called a full strength squad, with key European players such as Tim Howard and Clint Dempsy missing. Also missing was Landon Donoven, who was resting ahead of his MLS cup final with LA in Seattle. Bradley choose to field a squad of mostly MLS caliber players, including FC Dallas player Jeff Cunningham, and LA Galaxy midfielder Edgar Castillo who earned their first national team goal and first call up respectively. The US seemed to be off to a good start. with Cunningham capitalizing on a Denmark defensive error to score in the 26th, however the rest of the game was decidedly more depressing, and the US would loose the game three one.
The entire point of freindlies is to learn and apply new methods and line ups, and if Bradley takes away anything from this match it should be that he shouldn't fix what isnt broke. A usually on point Jozy Altidore was obviously uncomfortable and flat playing alongside Eddie Johnson, who replaced Cunningham as a first half sub. The steady workmanship of Clint Dempsy would have helped the situation a bit, although to the forwards credit the midfield wasn't exactly being helpful.
In the midfield Ricardo Clark and Michael Bradley looked lost without Landon Donaven at their side. The Americans lost possession several times in the middle and failed to provide decent service for much of the match. Jermaine Jones should provide a much needed upgrade when hes healthy.
In the back Franky Hejduk looked flat and lazy, while Spector was played out of position, probably because 3 of the four US center backs are injured.
This may look like a whole lot of bad, but this friendly, and the preceding one against Slovenia, should raise no panic alarms. These are the kinks that must be ironed out before South Africa, and at least we now know that were not leaving out any key players from our line ups (except maybe Cunningham).

EPL roundup
It was an exciting weekend in England, as Chelsea widened its hold on first, and several clubs made significant movement up the table. Spurs opened up the weekend with a two nil victory over Sunderland, owed in part to a missed penalty by former Spurs man Darren Bent. Man City drew to a spectacular Burnley 3-3. I've had arguments with my colleagues around Miracle about weather Burnley can stay up but anyone watching Saturdays game, Burnley's first away point of the season, should be convinced that this team with zero star power can stay up after they scored three goals against a club with the likes of Wright Philips and Tevez. Villa absolutely destroyed Rovers, with a five one win at home. American Brad Friedel started in goal and played a very good game, but overall the ball stayed at the Blackburn end as villa continued to pour on punishment. Wolves went down 1-4 to Arsenal, thanks in part to two Wolves own goals. It angers me that arsenal never gets its due. This is a truly fantastic team, made up almost completely of young talent, yet people never talk about them like there title contenders (while retards still talk about liverpool as title contenders). If anyone is going to take the trophy from Chelsea it wont be Sir Alex it will be Arsene Wenger. Speaking of the big four, Chelsea narrowly defeated Manchester United at the bridge after England captain John Terry nodded in a contested free kick. This was one of the tensest game ive ever seen, and you could tell both teams felt that this fixture could determine the champion. The first half was really a demonstration of rock solid defending on both sides, as neither team got a really good chance to work the keepers. During the second half Manchester United began to fall apart a little, and the yellow card began to flow. Johnny Evans should have been red carded after he kicked Drogba in the chest in the box, but a yellow was shown instead. Michael Owen made a brief appearance, and I really can't help thinking that Fergie should have played him from the start to provide a partner for Rooney (who had very good movement on and off the ball) to work with. Also Vidic remained on the bench even though he's reportedly fit, another player who could have sured up United's second half defense. Elsewhere Clint Demspy scored his 3rd goal in 3 games as he put away a penalty in Fulham's one one draw with Wigan.

Amazing
This is one of the best individual goals ive ever seen.... its takes a lot for me to say that to an Arsenal player, being a blues fan.
